Inking Science is an art book collecting of 31 ink drawings of scientists and their stories. I came up with the idea when I started planning for the 2018 Inktober challenge. During Inktober, artists all around the globe are called to draw something every day using ink, inspired by an official prompt list. As an additional challenge to myself, I decided to pair the prompt list words with scientists and their science. As a result, I had 31 illustrations of my favorite scientists and some scribbled notes of why I chose them and why they fit with the assigned prompt.
Inspired by my love for science communication, I collected all my courage and resolved to collect all of them in a book. I invited Valerie, a close friend of mine and brilliant science communicator, to use my notes and drawings as inspiration to writing the accompanying text to the illustrations. Together we made Inking Science.
In March, the book was funded thanks to the 76 amazing people who supported the project on Kickstarter. You can now buy copies of the book here.
