States of Matter artworks represent the four physical states of Solid, Liquid, Gas and Plasma.
The use of hands as subjects for the drawings invites the viewer to think of an interactive tactile experience with science and matter. The strength of the physical bonds is mirrored by the way the hands hold each other in the drawings. From the strong connections of Solid, where the hands have a tight hold reflecting the strong forces keeping together solids and crystals, to the wide separation of Gas, where the hands fragment reminding the gas molecules separating from each other and occupying the space around them.
Since the subject of hands is so intimate to human nature, they also invoke a more human experience. While thinking of physics and the forces in the universe, one is called to reflect at the connections in our own life and how we interact with other people.
